Southern Skies has expanded in 2011 to now include Community and Brisbane based sports clinics. The clinics involve sports such as rugby, netball, cricket, basketball, tennis and gymnastics and are held at various times throughout the year.
These clinics give the children of Queensland an opportunity to not only develop their skills and love for their chosen sport, but to also be identified by state sporting associations who endorse Southern Skies programs.
The first series of Community Clinics will be held on Thursday Island and Lawn Hill (near Mt Isa) in September 2011 and it is expected that 150 children from the areas will attend. Following these clinics, a selected group of students will be invited to attend a Brisbane based camp in 2012 where they will continue to hone their talents in front of qualified and experienced coaches and selectors.
The Brisbane based clinics will be held in July with a two day clinic for beginners and a three day clinic for advanced participants. Both boys and girls are encouraged to attend.
